Developing our independence

This week in Sixth Form we have been working on our independent skills in meal prep. We made some healthy spicy mexican bean burgers. The students were able to read the instructions, find all the ingredients and successfully put all the ingredients together to make their own lunch.

ICT & Media sessions saw us using our skills to complete our movie clips by cutting and copying to show everyone our finished product in our screening at the end of term.

Employability took us out into the local community to Pets at Home to look at the roles of shop workers. We also looked at catering establishments and looked at the roles of the staff, looking at how the followed Health & Safety procedures and what jobs each role took on. This trip was very successful and the students thoroughly enjoyed their experience, it was great to be back out in the local community.

Finally we have enjoyed moving our bodies in Commando Joe’s, AFC Fylde and Blackpool Football Club sessions and seeing the benefit of getting some exercise in our daily lives.
