Modelling shapes

This week Pine Tree class have been learning about different shapes in our Numeracy topic. We have enjoyed doing different activities using circles, squares, triangles and rectangles, finding shapes around school, in the local town and discussing the properties of different shapes. We then used our knowledge to identify different objects around our classroom, circle clock, rectangular tables and windows, square timetable symbols, plug sockets and a triangular roof on our class beehive. In our Art lessons this week we have been looking at sculptures by the artists Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. We went out into the community looking to find different sculptures and discussed what they are made from. We took lots of photographs of our favourite ones. We then used playdough, clay and dry spaghetti to create various shapes and our own sculptures.
