Sixth Form: A little bit about our options for this year!
Date: 5th Feb 2026 @ 3:35pm
Our Vocational Options for Sixth Form this year are Floristry & Horticulture, Catering, Travel, Transport and Engineering, Retail and Enterprise.
This week in our Floristry sessions, we have been using our previously learnt knowledge to create flower arrangements in a vase. We have been learning how to prolong the life of a vase arrangement, and have been making choices based on colour, smell, and flower preferences.
In Catering sessions, we’ve been developing our safe knife skills to cut a range of tricky vegetables, learning how to safely use a knife and grater, and even mastering the trickiest of tasks... cracking an egg without getting the shell in! All these skills culminated in us being able to make a personal omelette, which of course included the inevitable taste test.
In Travel, Transport and Engineering, we have been looking at bridges, designing our own, then building them. We have also been exploring different modes of transport and the terrain they can travel on.
In Retail and Enterprise, we’ve been learning all about our local environment and the shops we have in the community. We even managed to sneak in a cheeky game of shop/logo BINGO!
It’s been a great week. We’ve all been working very hard, and please make sure to check back soon to see our video A Day in the Life of a Sixth Form Student, which our Functional Skills group have been working very hard to create.
