Bay Tree: Exploring computing
Date: 23rd Apr 2026 @ 6:32pm
This week in Bay Tree, we have been exploring early computing skills through fun, interactive activities that encourage curiosity, engagement and independence.
The children have been using switch activated cause-and-effect toys, helping them understand that their actions can make something happen. Whether it was pressing a switch to activate lights, sounds or movement, the children showed great excitement as they began to anticipate and control outcomes.
Some of the children also spent time working together on the Interactive Whiteboard. They explored different buildings and talked about the sounds and letters they begin with. The children were encouraged to look, listen, and match letters to familiar places.
To continue developing their touchscreen skills, some children enjoyed playing “Splat the Clown” on the iPads. This activity helped the children practice hand-eye coordination, timing, and making choices, all while having lots of fun.
What a great week Bay Tree.
