Bay Tree: Feeding of the 5000

Date: 7th May 2026 @ 8:39am

This week Bay Tree explored how Christians show kindness, love and care through sensory activities, creative learning and shared experiences. Pupils engaged beautifully with a range of hands-on activities linked to churches, worship and caring for others.

Pupils enjoyed exploring the sensory church tray, using LED candles, bells, coloured materials and music to investigate different feelings such as calm, happy and excited. Many pupils showed excellent engagement and communication during shared sensory play.

We also focused on “kind hands.” Pupils decorated hand templates using tissue paper, stamps and sequins while discussing ways we can use kind hands to help others, tidy up and share with friends. It was lovely to see pupils exploring emotions connected to kindness and positive interactions.

We created our own stained glass church activity allowing pupils to create colourful church windows using cellophane and different shapes. Pupils worked hard to make patterns, explore textures and identify symbols linked to churches such as crosses and windows.

To finish the week, pupils learned about the "Feeding of the 5000" and how Christians share love through helping and sharing food. Pupils explored different food items through touch, smell and taste and practised sharing with peers during a calm and supportive group activity.
