Bay Tree: Lets Go To The Beach

This week in Bay Tree, we have been working really hard on our Talk for Writing targets through our exciting topic, “Look what I found at the Beach!”

The children have explored lots of beach themed sensory and communication activities to help develop their language, confidence and choice-making skills. We have been encouraging all pupils to communicate in their own individual ways.

Throughout the topic, the children have enjoyed exploring a variety of beach objects including shells, buckets and spades, sand, sea animals, sunglasses, and one of the favourites, the rubber ring. We focused on helping the children identify and make choices about what they might find at the beach and what they would like to take with them.

The children showed fantastic engagement and curiosity during our literacy sessions. We were especially proud of how confidently they communicated their preferences. It has been wonderful to see the children becoming more independent in making choices and using their communication strategies.
