Bay Tree: Spring Is Here

Date: 12th Mar 2026 @ 4:03pm

This half term in Bay Tree we have been learning about spring through our science lessons and Attention Autism sessions. The children have been exploring the changing seasons and how spring brings new life all around us.

During our Attention Autism sessions, we explored different seasonal elements through exciting sensory activities. We investigated rain by dropping rice onto metal objects to listen carefully to how rain sounds. We also explored wind using a fan. The children observed how the wind can move objects and felt the air moving across their hands and faces. To explore sunlight, we used torches and coloured cellophane. The children watched as the light shone through the different colours, creating bright patterns.

As part of our science lessons we also learnt about plants and life processes, we have been exploring daffodils, which are one of the flowers that bloom in spring. The children carefully looked at the flowers and talked about what colours they could see. We noticed bright yellows and greens. Some children also explored the different parts of the flower that they could see. Together we identified the bulb, petals, stem, and flower. Some children enjoyed touching the petals and describing how they felt, while others pointed out the long green stems that help hold the flower up.

Through these activities, the children have been developing their curiosity and communication while learning about the world around them. It has been wonderful to see their excitement as they explored spring.

What another amazing week Bay Tree.
