Bay Tree: Switches, Screens and Sensory Exploration

Date: 11th Jun 2026 @ 3:31pm

This week in Bay Tree we focused on our computing targets where we worked on developing attention, turn-taking and early computing skills through a range of sensory and interactive activities.

In our Attention Autism session pupils took part in a matching game, where symbols of computing equipment were hidden in trays filled with shredded paper. Children searched for the pictures and matched them to corresponding images on a board.

Using iPads and the interactive board, some children worked independently and alongside each other to access educational games. Activities included moving target games such as splat insects, splat space and memory card activities, encouraging concentration and visual memory development.

We used switch-operated toys and equipment to provide valuable opportunities for pupils to understand cause and effect. The children’s favourite was the bubble machine, they learnt that pressing a switch could make bubbles appear. There were plenty of moments of anticipation, excitement, and purposeful interaction.

What a busy & fun filled first full week back!
