Achieving The Best We Can
In Everything We Do

Busy First Week in Sixth Form

Date: 20th Apr 2026 @ 4:24pm

It’s been a fantastic start to the term after Easter, and it’s been lovely to see the students so positive and focused!
🎨 In Functional Creativity, students explored a range of textures while listening to ABBA songs from Mamma Mia, before creating their own textured Greek island pictures. It’s definitely got us dreaming of warmer days! ☀️
🍕 Meal Preparation has been full of teamwork, with students taking on different roles to reach the all important goal of enjoying some yummy food! One group explored different pizzas and garlic bread, while another researched pizza bases, recipes, ingredients, and budgets. Sadly, a trip to Italy isn’t on the cards just yet, but we can dream! The best part was cooking and taste testing, which was unanimously voted the highlight of the lesson.
☕ In Sensory Enterprise, we explored café culture and the role of a café employee. The bell was a big hit and led to lots of smiles, and students enjoyed making a drink from the Specials Board. This week’s Detox Herbal Tea was a surprisingly big success!
🥐 Catering has moved into the world of hospitality this term. Students have been sampling drinks and breakfast snacks, thinking about presentation, serving time, and difficulty, as well as planning our own pop up café. This included deciding on the location, choosing a name, and creating the perfect playlist to match the café vibe.
🌱 In Horticulture, we’ve been tidying the Sixth Form outdoor area, safely clearing winter rubbish and refreshing the raised planters ready for new planting over the coming weeks.
🛍️ In Retail Enterprise, we have been making bracelets to sell at our upcoming Summer Fair. Students have been using their fine motor skills to carefully thread beads onto the rope, while also using their creative flair to design their own bracelets.
