A Busy Week in Compass Centre

Date: 24th Apr 2026 @ 1:54pm

What a great week in the Compass Centre! We are enjoying our new topic "what a wonderful world" looking at Literacy books about travelling the world and experiencing different habitats. Our Maths work has been linking to this through desert themed maths, weighing out sand to create and splat our own sandcastles using standard and non-standard units of measurement. In Art we have been exploring the use of texture and in our Enterprise sessions we have been looking at how we will use the bumpy bird seed to design and make bird feeders ready to sell at the summer fair. Our Functional Skills group have been learning to sequence stories and begin to create stop-motion films to act out the story of Jack and the Beanstalk while our older pupils have been practicing their independent self-care skills to show how well they know their teeth-brushing routine. We have also been very happy to see the sun shining while we have been out in the community to apply our skills in real life situations and extend our horse-riding skills. Well done Compass Centre pupils, all your staff are very proud of you!
