Compass Centre: Creativity

Date: 13th Nov 2025 @ 12:14pm

What another fantastic week in the Compass Centre!

Pupils have continued their space themed learning, becoming more familiar with their Literacy texts, starting to use symbols to support communication about what is happening in the books, and what props are linked to the actions.

In Numeracy pupils have been applying their functional skills, working on their individual targets for number, sequence, quantity, and money for those important skills needed for life after Pear Tree, but with an exciting rocket-themed twist! We have been creating quantity within rocket towers and flying through space to sequence rocket number lines.

In Attention Autism sessions pupils and staff alike have enjoyed the excitement (and mess!) of lemonade rockets blasting off! Pupils have then developed their independent learning skills with a follow up art activity to create star prints without adult support.

Although we can't quite get our minibus on a magical adventure to the moon, we have been out to explore our local community to keep fit, practice our skills using public transport and applying our money knowledge to pay with coins in shops. We have also had fun in the pool to work our muscles and stay fit.

During functional skills pupils have started to create rockets from recycling, preparing for some group builds next week applying their teamwork- something they have excelled in during team games in their PE session this week.

In art we have been creating our own crazy aliens while having to request and describe to our adults to get the resources we need, working on our use of our communication aids for some learners or developing speaking and listening skills for others.

Compass staff are so proud of you all, keep up the good work Compass Centre!
