Elm Tree Class: Numeracy

Welcome back to the Elm Tree Class blog.  This week we have started the topic ‘number, number bonds and place value’ in numeracy.

We have started out by focussing on numbers this week.  This has meant lots of counting songs during the whole group session, and we have found counting from 1-20 fairly easy so we have been counting from 1-100.

We used the HelpKidzLearn website counting songs to practise counting from 1-5 and vice versa using communication books to identify the numbers.

We have been rote counting from 1-20, placing numbers in the correct order and matching amounts of objects to the correct number.

We have been identifying and saying numbers up to 50.

We have been reading number words from 1-100 and identifying the correct number.

Next week we will be learning about number bonds to 5, 10 and 20 using addition and subtraction.
