Hi everybody!

Welcome to the Elm Tree Class Blog. This week, we would like to share what we have been learning about in computing. Our topic for this half term is programming and development. So far, we have learned that an algorithm is a set of instructions that operates technology. We have been writing our own instructions to make sandwiches and drinks, as well as putting the things we do for our morning and bedtime routines in the correct order.

This week, we have been giving the Dash robot and BeeBots instructions to move. Some of us have been tinkering with Dash to find out how to make him move, change how he lights up, and explore the different noises he can make. We particularly liked the fire engine and cow sounds. Some of us were also giving the BeeBot a series of instructions to make it move in a set direction. In addition, we used switches to operate a tracking programme on the HelpKidzLearn website.
