Compass Centre: Exciting Enterprise
Date: 28th Sep 2025 @ 6:13pm
This week we would like to showcase the wonderful work that learners in the enterprise group have been up to already this half term.
Our goal is to create, package and advertise a product to sell within school so that we can raise funds for a class Halloween party whilse developing our knowledge of money value, teamwork and product design.
As a group we explored our product- rosemary from Beth's garden so we can maximise our profits! We looked at how people use rosemary for scented items and for cooking. We then got to work to decide how to package our product which entailed carrying out lots of experiemts on different packaging types to find one that was durable, secure, waterproof and aesthetically pleasing!
The following week we looked at what prices shops are selling their rosemary for, and what weight they are sold as. We began using scales to compare which products were best value for money and to weigh how much of our product could fit inside our containers.
Week three was time to advertise! We worked together to create our sales posters to put up in the school staffrooms. We had to make sure that the posters were eyecatching and checked all the cirteriato tell potential custumers what the products is; how much it costs; what the enterprise project is about.
This week for our fourth week we started applying our maths skills to create tallys after voting on what food or drink we would like to spend the profits on for our party. We were looking at who likes the same items and who liked different items and began thinking about how many jars of rosemary we need to sell to raise enough money.
Next week we will be packaging and delivering our products before creating our group shopping list! Alan Sugar watch out!
