Elm Tree Class: An Exciting Week

Date: 3rd Jul 2025 @ 3:24pm

What a fantastic week we’ve had in Elm Tree, with lots of learning taking place!

This half term, our Creative Curriculum topic is ‘Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle’. The pupils have been developing their understanding of this through a variety of engaging activities. In Design and Technology, they have been exploring, designing, and creating their own junk models using different recyclable materials. We have some amazing models currently in development!

In Literacy, the pupils have been reading a story called ‘The Girl Who Could Fix Anything’. They have been deepening their understanding by sequencing and recalling the main events of the story, before beginning to use it as inspiration to create their own narratives.

In Numeracy, the pupils have been working hard on learning all about addition and multiplication. They have been applying their knowledge to solve different word problems by identifying the correct calculations and using arrays to find the answers.

We’ve also had a wonderful time exploring plants in Science. Some pupils have been sorting different plants by colour, size, and shape, while others have demonstrated their understanding of the plant life cycle. A group of pupils even dissected plants and drew the main parts to show their knowledge of plant anatomy.

In Music, we’ve been learning about rhythm by creating our own compositions and attempting to play them. We also enjoyed dancing with our partners, it was great fun!

Finally, we had an amazing time during our PE open days. It was lovely to participate in a variety of activities alongside our families.

Have a lovely weekend!
