Seedlings Class: Exploring sounds, voices and attention
Date: 1st Dec 2025 @ 3:32pm
This week in Seedlings we focused on listening, responding, and developing early communication skills. Our aim was to support attention and encourage children to tune in to the sounds and voices around them, building important foundations for language and social interaction.
Animal sounds were explored through Peppa Pig themed trays, which made the activities familiar and engaging. The children enjoyed imitating pigs, ducks, and other animals, showing their responses through smiles, laughter, and vocal play. These moments helped them connect sounds with meaning while practising concentration and turn-taking.
Nursery rhymes such as Old MacDonald and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star gave opportunities to join in, anticipate what comes next, and enjoy the rhythm of language. Singing together supported communication and created a shared sense of enjoyment in the classroom.
We have seen growing confidence as children respond to voices with eye contact, gestures, and vocal sounds. Each small step — a smile, a giggle, or a pause to listen — marks progress in their communication journey.
