Seedlings: Expressive arts and design
Date: 2nd Oct 2025 @ 3:47pm
This week in Seedlings, we’ve been enjoying nursery rhymes, full-body movement, and musical instruments as part of our Expressive Arts and Design learning.
The children have been practising vocalising, exploring different instruments, and joining in with whole-body actions to familiar songs. We’ve also introduced a musical interaction box, filled with sensory songs and sound-based activities to spark curiosity and engagement.
Singing well-known rhymes helps build listening skills, memory, and confidence. The rhythm and repetition give structure, making it easier for children to join in and know what’s coming next.
Using instruments like drums, shakers, and bells has supported purposeful movement and hand-eye coordination. Children have responded in their own ways—some through making sounds, others through watching and listening—and every response is noticed and encouraged.
