Achieving The Best We Can
In Everything We Do

Fun in the Sun!

Date: 1st May 2025 @ 4:02pm

This week in Oak Tree we have been extremely busy and have loved the sunny weather at break times and in lessons!

On Monday, we made cards to give to Lesley as she ran the London Marathon on Sunday! We are all so proud of her, for running it and for raising money for charity!

In PSD we have been looking at the power of the media and advertising. This week, we were AD detectives, and explored different ads, discussing how they made us feel and describing them.  We then used this knowledge to make our own silly ADs for a made-up product, and the ideas were incredible.

In Literacy this week, we have been continuing on with our topic of Imagery poems. We have specifically been using our senses this week to describe different fruits and vegetables, linking to our creative curriculum topic of ‘Living in a Healthy world’. We have tasted, felt, looked at and smelt different fruits and created a word bank full of adjectives! We even had a go at writing our own poems!

In Numeracy, we have been working hard on our topic of length. We have continued to use rulers to measure different things, such as our hands, to see who has the longest hand and who has the shortest hand. We have continued to use the ruler correctly, making sure we start at 0 so it is accurate. Some students have even had a go at solving problems with their measurements, such as finding the difference or adding them together.

In Science we became plants! We used our knowledge from last week to act out the role of each part of a plant, such as drinking water to be the roots or basking in the sunlight like the leaves to give us food. We also took part in a quiz to test our knowledge, and we certainly know our stuff.

In Vocational, we have been learning about vehicle maintenance. This week, we looked at the different parts of the car and labelled our own car. We also came up with ideas about what we need to do to keep our car healthy, such as washing it, or feeding it (with fuel). We enjoyed washing cars using the resources we identified, in the sunshine!

We are excited to see what learning we can do next week!

Have a lovely weekend!

Love,
