Seedlings: Goldilocks and the just right week

Date: 6th Mar 2026 @ 8:44am

This week in Seedlings we have been focusing on our personal and social development, with lots of opportunities to build play and engagement skills. Our traditional tale was Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and the children explored the story through a range of hands‑on, sensory experiences.

We investigated warm and cold resources linked to the bears’ porridge, giving the children the chance to feel temperature differences and make choices about what they preferred. The children also enjoyed pouring, mixing and tipping oats, which supported both sensory exploration and early play skills. Masks, fancy dress and story props helped bring the characters to life, encouraging the children to engage with adults and peers as they acted out parts of the tale. We also offered building activities so the children could create beds and chairs for the bears, giving them the chance to problem‑solve and explore different materials.

It has been a purposeful and engaging week in Seedlings, with lots of opportunities for the children to connect, explore and develop their play skills through a familiar and much‑loved story.
