Kandinsky in Elm Tree 🌳

Date: 17th Sep 2026 @ 3:54pm

Hello everyone,

We hope you have all had a great week. What a lovely week we have had in Elm Tree getting stuck in with creative activities.

Our art focus this half term is Wassily Kandinsky, exploring how we can use colours, lines and shapes to express things, feelings and ideas.

On Wednesday we listened to a variety of music, sitting and thinking about how the music sounds to us. Does is sound like happy music? Angry music? or sad music? We then used different colours to express how each song sounded to us, we used blue straight lines for happy, red dots for sad and yellow zigzags for angry. Using their own opinion the children chose what to draw when they heard each piece of music which they all engaged really well with.

It has been amazing to see the children expressing themselves and exploring how music and art can be connected together.

Have a lovely weekend, we hope the rain stays off 🌧️

See you next week, lots of love
