Pine Tree Class: Lots of learning in Pine Tree

This week in Pine Tree we have been busy continuing our work in Literacy where we have been extending our learning about poems and rhyming words. The students are becoming more confident in matching their rhyming words. 

In Numeracy, we have been resuming our work on data handling. The students have been  collecting data to make into graphs. We went round other classes to ask them what their favourite Disney characters were from several options and we used tally marks to mark down the answers - the most popular choice amongst the children was Elsa and amongst the adults it was Winnie the Pooh. We will now begin to consolidate our information and transfer it to a graph. 

Our topic of the week this week has been Makaton. We have been expressing our likes and dislikes for lessons and activities. It probably won't be a shock to you all that home time was the most popular choice from majority of our students! The children have been using communication boards to support their language alongside using Makaton signs. 

At the end of last week, we took part in Inspiration Day which was centred around looking after our bodies. There were different stations set up, for example Maple Tree Class had 'Maple Mindfulness'; we had a Hungry Caterpillar station with healthy fruits on, there was a toothbrushing station alongside a shaving foam station - it was SO much fun!
