Oak Tree: Phonics & Numeracy
Date: 16th Jun 2026 @ 3:43pm
This week in our phonics lesson, we focused on learning new letter sounds and blending them to read simple words. The children practiced identifying sounds at the beginning and end of words using fun games and activities. We also worked on building confidence by reading short, decodable sentences together. Everyone showed great effort and enthusiasm throughout the lesson. Keep practicing these sounds at home to continue making excellent progress!
In our numeracy lesson, we explored prepositions and coordinates by using positional language such as “above,” “below,” “next to,” and “between.” Pupils enjoyed following and giving directions on simple grids to locate objects using coordinates. We also practiced describing positions clearly, helping to build confidence in both mathematical vocabulary and spatial awareness.
