Oak Tree Class: An Exciting Week

Welcome back everyone! We hope you all had a safe, restful, and fun-filled half-term break. It’s been wonderful to see all the smiling faces back in Oak Tree Class, and what an exciting week we’ve had!
This week, we’ve been building up to our Inspiration Day on Friday, themed all around SPACE, and it’s been out of this world!
When we returned to school on Monday, we were all surprised to discover a mysterious egg in the library. We were full of questions. Where did it come from? What could be inside? The next day, the egg had cracked open, and by Wednesday, pink slime had started to ooze out. We were buzzing with curiosity... what could possibly be hatching?
As part of our Literacy learning, we’ve had a special, mystery box each day, containing a new object to spark our imaginations and help us build ideas for our space-themed story:
- Monday – A sewing machine
- Tuesday – Pop tubes
- Wednesday – A foil blanket
- Thursday – A space suit and helmet
Then came Friday, and what a day it was! When we arrived at school, we discovered that the egg had hatched, and shortly after, we had a visit from an alien! It was such a fun and surprising moment. We also read our new Literacy book, “The Spacesuit”, which we all really enjoyed. It tied in perfectly with our space theme and got us thinking about what it would be like to explore the stars.
It’s been a fantastic first week back, full of wonder, creativity, and imagination. We’re so proud of how engaged and enthusiastic everyone has been, and we can’t wait to see what the next few weeks have in store.
