Achieving The Best We Can
In Everything We Do

Positive and productive week in Oak Tree Class.

Date: 11th Sep 2025 @ 3:41pm

An amazing week in Oak Tree.

We’ve had such a positive week in Oak Tree Class, and we hope everyone managed to enjoy their weekend despite the unpredictable weather!

This week, we were excited to introduce our new literacy story: "War Horse" by Michael Morpurgo. The children have absolutely loved diving into this powerful tale and have shown incredible enthusiasm and engagement. One of the highlights has been exploring the story props—with dressing up as soldiers becoming a firm class favourite! It’s been wonderful to see the children immerse themselves in the story through exploration and discussion.

In Art, we’ve kicked off our new half-term topic: Sculptors. We began by learning about the renowned artist Antony Gormley, famous for his striking statue work. The children were fascinated by his piece "Bread Works (1980–81)"—and were amazed to discover it was made from bread! Guesses ranged from wood to wax and clay, but nobody came close to bread. It sparked lots of curiosity and conversation.

Following this, we began creating our own sculptures of ourselves using tissue paper. The creativity and individuality in each piece have been brilliant to see, and we can’t wait to share their progress with you over the coming weeks.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend, and we’re already looking forward to seeing you all next week!
