Recognising people and faces: Sprouting connections

This week in Seedlings, we've been exploring the theme of recognising people — from our families and friends to teachers and community helpers. During our Open Afternoon, families joined us to celebrate this learning journey, and the children proudly shared their activities and discoveries.

We’ve used a range of activities to help children connect with the people around them. They looked at pictures of their loved ones, coloured them in and then buried and uncovered them in flour and oats. Seedlings have also dressed up as bakers, police officers, nurses, and more!

We also spent time looking at our own reflections and photographs, encouraging children to recognise themselves. Through all of this, we’ve focused on intensive interaction — tuning into each child’s communication style and building meaningful moments of connection.

It’s been a joyful celebration of identity, relationships, and belonging. Thank you to all the families who joined us — your presence made our learning even more special.
