Rowan Tree: A Winter Wonderland

Date: 5th Dec 2025 @ 8:38am

This week our topic has been science and we've been exploring the season of winter.  In our Attention Autism sessions, we watched our teachers build a snowman and then took turns to add the hat, scarf, buttons and of course the carrot nose!

Afterwards, we got to work with lots of winter themed activities. Some of us enjoyed the winter-themed tuff tray which was filled with animals that live in the cold, such as polar bears and penguins. We also had igloos to look inside, and sleigh bells to ring, and of course lots of glittery snow. Others of us experienced the cold feeling by exploring ice packs and playing with fake snow-which was actually really cold! We enjoyed scooping, sprinkling, squeezing and making snowballs to throw around.

Another favourite activity was making stained glass snowmen. Everyone enjoyed choosing colourful pieces of cellophane to stick to their snowman before we put them through the laminator. The finished products look stunning on our classroom windows and we will enjoy watching the light shine through them for the next few weeks. We've also loved dressing up in winter clothing, reading winter themed books, doing snowflake paintings and making our snowmen pictures-each one is unique! It's been so much fun and we've all been really engaged in our learning.

Ps we hope you all enjoyed watching us in our advent calendar video. We had lots of fun pretending it was Christmas when we filmed it last week!
