Rowan Tree: Chinese New Year
Date: 26th Feb 2026 @ 3:45pm
This week in Rowan Tree, we had an amazing time celebrating Chinese New Year! First, we joined in with a dragon parade by dressing up in a long dragon costume and walking around the hall. It was so much fun moving together as a team, swaying, bobbing, and roaring just like a real dragon! 🐉
Next, we got to try on Chinese-themed clothing, including colourful silk jackets, kimonos, and hats. Some of us even explored Chinese dolls, noticing their beautiful traditional outfits and hairstyles. It was exciting to dress up and imagine we were part of the festival! 👘
We also had a chance to take part in some sensory exploration with rice, noodles, and loose tea leaves. Some of us scooped, poured, and mixed the ingredients, while others created patterns and little piles. Feeling the different textures was really fun and some of us even had a little taste! 🍚
Since this year is the Year of the Horse, we pretended to be horses! We galloped, trotted, and jumped over small hurdles, and some of us wore horse costumes. It was a fantastic way to be active and imagine we were running through fields. 🐴
Finally, we explored ribbons and fans. We practiced twirling our ribbons in big circles and spirals, while others waved huge colourful fans around. It was lovely to see all the bright colours dancing through the air, just like in a real festival! 🪭
We had a fantastic time exploring, learning, and having fun, and it was a wonderful way to celebrate Chinese New Year together. 🧧🎊
