Rowan Tree-Following Instructions

This week in Rowan Tree, we have been exploring the exciting world of computing. We learned that computers follow instructions called programs in order to work. We then followed our own step-by-step instructions in a variety of activities.

First, we made some delicious smoothies. We carefully followed each step in the correct order to produce the finished product. We had to chop the fruit, put the pieces into a blender, add some milk, and then blend it all together. The last instruction was to drink our smoothie, and this was definitely our favourite part!

We also practised our instruction-following skills by navigating our way around a grid in the classroom. We followed directions such as forwards, left and right to move step-by-step around the grid in order to reach the finish square. It was great fun.

In a final instruction-following task, some of us completed a colouring activity where we had to colour each section using the colour written on the page. If we followed the instructions correctly, we were rewarded with a lovely picture at the end. Overall, it has been a fantastic week of learning all about the importance of following instructions carefully.
