Rowan Tree: Going on a Journey
Date: 15th May 2026 @ 9:26am
This week in class our topic has been Geography. We have been learning all about maps and journeys and thinking about the different places we go and how we travel to them.
In our Attention Autism session, we watched carefully as our teacher drove a toy car around a blank page, travelling to familiar places from our school day. As the car moved around, a map began to appear! We loved seeing our very own school day map being created and then we all enjoyed having a turn ourselves.
After that, we were ready to get on with our focused activities. Some of us went on exciting treasure hunts, following arrows carefully to find hidden treasure. Others drove cars around maps, travelling from building to building and exploring different routes. We also talked about different types of transport and discussed which vehicles we might use for different journeys.
Some of us explored different places we might visit, such as the supermarket, the post office and the beach. We enjoyed discovering the different things we might find there and had lots of fun role playing with the objects and resources. We have had a wonderful week learning about journeys, maps and the world around us!
To finish our week, we welcomed our parents into school for our open morning. It was lovely to share some of the work we have been doing in class and to show everyone the different activities we have been enjoying this week. We loved having our grown ups in school with us and sharing our learning together.
