Rowan Tree – It’s Time for Summer!

What a fantastic final week we’ve had together in Rowan Tree class! We’ve packed so much fun and learning into our last few days and made lots of special memories before the summer holidays.

Our final topic of the year was science and our learning focused on materials changing shape. We watched ice cubes melt into water right before our eyes and discovered that they melted even faster when we used a hairdryer to heat them. We also turned plain cream into delicious ice-cream by blending it with frozen berries. The best part, of course, was getting to taste our homemade treat – it was absolutely delicious!

As it’s summer, our ice cream fun didn’t stop there. We also enjoyed making pretend ice creams using special kinetic sand that holds its shape. Sticking with the summer fun, we spent lots of time playing in the sand, filling buckets, cups and pots before tipping them over to discover that the sand had changed shape into wonderful sandcastles.

As it was our final week together, we made sure to celebrate with plenty of fun too! Yesterday afternoon we swapped our usual class snacks for some tasty party food and we’ve also enjoyed cooling off with lots of water play and sprinklers in the sunshine.

This week we also held our annual award ceremony, where our Rowan Tree Pupil of the Year received a certificate in recognition of their fantastic hard work and achievements. We are all incredibly proud of them. That said, the adults all agree that every child in Rowan Tree has worked so hard this year and should be proud of everything they have achieved. To recognise and celebrate this, we finished the week with a special surprise when the staff treated everyone to ice lollies this afternoon!

As another wonderful year comes to an end, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our families. Your support and partnership throughout the year have meant so much to us and have helped us enable every child to be the very best they can be.

We hope you all have a fantastic, relaxing summer holiday. Although some children (and staff!) will be moving to different classes in September, now that we are based in the main school building, we know we’ll still see each other around. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and hear all about your summer adventures.
