Rowan Tree: Summer Fun
Date: 8th May 2026 @ 9:10am
This week in Rowan Tree Class we have been learning all about summer… although it seems our summer topic may have scared the sunny weather away!
We have had lots of fun exploring the different things we might do during the summer months. One of our favourite activities has been playing in the sand! We loved building sandcastles and using our imagination to create our own little beach scenes. We also explored some interesting things you might find at the seaside, including shells, pebbles and seaweed. The children enjoyed exploring the different textures and using the items in different ways.
Another activity we really enjoyed was dressing up in summer clothes. The children thought it was hilarious when the teachers tried on different hats and sunglasses, and they enjoyed putting them on themselves too. Even Teddy got dressed up in a wetsuit and hat! The children then practised putting on sun cream, and we talked about how important it is to stay safe in the sun and how we can look after ourselves during hot weather.
To finish our summer fun, we even had a pretend picnic together! The children loved sitting together, sharing pretend food items and joining in with lots of role play and conversation. It has been a lovely week full of sensory play, imagination and summer smiles — even if the sunshine didn’t quite join us!
