Rowan Tree: Time Travel Adventures

Happy New Year to all our families and friends.

It has been Inspiration Week in school, with the theme of time travel. We have had a fantastic time exploring different time periods through lots of fun activities. We began in the present day, where our inspiration box was filled with tropical fruits from our new literacy story, Handa’s Surprise. The children loved smelling, feeling, and especially tasting all the exotic fruits.

We then travelled back to the medieval period, building and playing with a wooden castle, dressing up as knights, and pretending to slay a dragon. The next day our time machine took us to the future, where we discovered a robot in our inspiration box. The children enjoyed watching it dance and sing, before using junk modelling materials to create their own robots.

We then travelled all the way back to the age of the dinosaurs. The children enjoyed playing with dinosaur figures, making salt dough fossils and digging in the ‘soil’ to discover dinosaur bones. This was made even more special today when a real-life dinosaur came to visit us in class. What a memorable end to a brilliant week.
