Last week in Seedlings, we explored numbers through a fun seaside theme. The children enjoyed “5 Little Fishes Splat,” practising counting in a playful way that also linked to our numeracy focus.

They explored coloured sand picture reveals and tuff trays with dry and damp sand, discovering hidden sea creatures and counting as they played. The octopus sensory tray with cooked spaghetti and jellyfish pictures was a big hit, encouraging sensory exploration and imaginative play. Pom pom sorting with coloured dishes also supported counting and number recognition.

The children were engaged and curious throughout, developing their early maths skills through hands-on, sensory experiences.
