We have had an amazing first week back at Sixth Form. During the first couple of days, we got to know our form groups and met the new staff and students who will be learning alongside us this year. 

 

This week, we have fully immersed ourselves in the curriculum, exploring different vocational options as well as functional skills linked to literacy and numeracy.

 

To begin our learning in Travel, Transport and Engineering, we learned about different structures and chose our favourite one to draw. After that, we had a go at building these structures using marshmallows and spaghetti. We had to concentrate hard and use our problem-solving skills to work out the best ways to make the structures stable. The final results were varied, but the learning that took place throughout the activity was fantastic. 

 

While some students were building structures, another group explored a range of sensory items linked to the topic. We investigated different building materials using all of our senses and remained fully engaged throughout the activity. 

It has been great to be back at school, and we cannot wait to see what the year ahead will bring.
