Maple Tree: Valiant Vikings!

We've had a great week of learning this week! Our topic has been learning all about the Vikings. 

We began our Viking journey by listening to some Viking themed songs - who doesn't love a bit of horrible histories. We learned about who the Vikings were, what they wore, where they travelled and how they lived.

Our attention was grabbed during attention autism, where we watched a Viking Izzy come along and build a castle out of sand, just to then knock it over with a sword! How viscious was that!? We then had to shield ourselves with an umbrella and pretend we were Viking's travelling in a longboat as water poured down on us. Surprise surprise, a few of us got quite wet - we definitely aren't cut out to be vikings.

We went on to reenact being Vikings with our Viking cloaks, helmets, shields and swords (under careful supervision to avoid any Viking conflicts!). We then ventured over to an island where we tried all sorts of Viking foods, such as bread, oats, fruit and honey - yum yum.
