Oak Tree Class: Welcome back!
Date: 25th Apr 2025 @ 3:24pm
We hope you all had an incredible Easter break and are feeling well rested!
We have loved being back in school and it was lovely to hear what everyone got up to on their break!
We have had an extremely exciting week in Oak Tree Class this week. We have been busy rehearsing for the school production and we are looking forward to showing you what we have been up to!
In Numeracy, we started our new topic of length, weight, and height, focusing on length this week. We have been using rulers to measure a variety of things, such as our hands, things we have found in the classroom and we have even started to do some addition with our measurements! We have gained a good understanding of centimetres and know that we have to start at 0 when measuring to make sure it is accurate.
In Literacy, we have started our topic of creating images with poetry. We have been using our knowledge from SPAG sessions by using adjectives to describe things, to make a picture in our head. We have been using our senses to describe an object we could not see and then drew a picture from the words we used and we did extremely well! We have also been linking this work to this term's Creative Curriculum topic of "Living in a healthy world" by describing fruit such as apples and oranges. We came up with some incredible adjectives and we even had some staff members guess the fruit we were describing!
In preparation for Inspiration Day, we chose to bake a banana bread for the "Masterchef" judges! We had a great time using the electric whisk, with some of our students controlling it with a switch! We also used scales to measure the ingredients which will prepare us for when we look at weight during Numeracy! Finally, we decorated the banana bread with dried bananas!
Today, we celebrated Inspiration Day by taking part in healthy activities and exploring the incredible stations in the hall.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we can't wait to see you next week!
Love,
The Oak Tree class team ♥
