Compass Centre: Welcome back

What a fantastic first week back at the Compass Centre. We hope that you had a lovely summer holidays. It was wonderful to see all the pupils returning to school and engaging so positively in their learning. We hit the ground running with our lessons, quickly settling back into our routines, including our off-site visits.

This half term, our creative curriculum topic is 'Brilliant Bodies'. During Challenge Time, pupils have been learning about emotions and how our feelings can affect our thoughts, behaviour and interactions with others. We have been exploring a range of emotions, including happiness, sadness and anger, and discussing situations that might cause us to experience these feelings. Pupils have been encouraged to identify emotions in themselves and others by looking at facial expressions. They then chose an emotion and used either playdough or facial features to create and represent it, helping them to develop their understanding of how emotions can be expressed in different ways. The pupils enjoyed sharing their creations.
