What use's electricity? ~ Oak Tree Class.

Hello everyone!
We hope you've all had a great week and are enjoying the start of autumn. We can’t believe we’re already in Week 4 – where does the time go?
It’s been a fantastic week in Oak Tree Class.
In Science, our exciting new topic for the half term is: Electricity! This week, we’ve been exploring how electricity works and identifying everyday items that use it. The children were fascinated to discover just how many things around us rely on electricity – from lights and kettles to tablets and equiptment.
We also began learning about electrical circuits. Using a step-by-step demonstration, we looked at how charging an iPad works – including the importance of switching the plug on to allow electricity to flow. This led to some brilliant discussions and questions from the children.
Later in the week, we got hands-on and started building our own circuits using crocodile clips, batteries, and light bulbs. The children showed fantastic problem-solving skills, especially when their bulbs didn’t light up right away. They worked together to figure out what might be wrong and how to fix it – great teamwork all round!
We hope everyone has a lovely, relaxing weekend – fingers crossed the weather stays nice! Stay safe, stay cosy, and we’ll see you all next week.
Love from Oak Tree Class 🌳
